Employees of the bureau de change in Herod's Temple. Contributions had to be paid in a special currency since pilgrims came from many areas. Tyrian silver didrachmas were therefore used. This currency had the additional advantage of not being subject to inflation. Officials were employed in the Court of the Gentiles to exchange it.
